Racing Into History: The Final Kranji Mile

First introduced in 2000, the Kranji Mile was organised in celebration of the launch of the Kranji Racecourse at the Singapore Turf Club. The Kranji Mile has evolved into one of the Club’s most coveted feature races and one of Singapore’s richest, racing over 1600m on turf with a prize purse of $1 million. The Kranji Mile has attracted top horses and jockeys as well as horse racing enthusiasts for consistently featuring some of the best milers.

18 May 2024 was an exhilarating race day at Singapore Turf Club, where more than 2,600 racegoers witnessed the final Kranji Mile race as the Club enters the homestretch of our racing history.

It was a thrilling test of mettle of the best thoroughbreds aged three years and older, where they raced over 1600m on turf at the Kranji Racecourse.

Crowd favourite Lim's Kosciuszko, trained by Daniel Meagher and ridden by Marc Lerner, lived up to expectations to become the Kranji Mile winner. This marks his second Kranji Mile win in a row and his 20th victory in Singapore. Dream Alliance, ridden by Mark Zahra, finished a close second, followed by Golden Monkey, ridden by Chad Schofield, in third place.

A Heritage Walk was organised in conjunction with the race. Featuring bilingual display panels along the walkways leading to the Grandstand, it highlighted significant milestones of the race, tracing its origins from the turn of the millennium to its evolution into one of the most prestigious events in the annual racing calendar.

The day was met with light showers which did not do much to dampen the spirits of racegoers. On their experience from the race day, a Singapore Turf Club Capturing Our Beauty Photo Walk participant said, “It was exciting to see the fast racing horses, a truly unique and interesting experience.“
