RACING FOR CHARITY AT THE LONGINES SINGAPORE GOLD CUP 2013
- Tote Board and Singapore Turf Club will be presenting donation cheques totaling $1.5 million to 23 selected charitable organizations.
The 84th edition of Singapore Gold Cup sponsored by Longines, one of the most illustrious events since 1924 will take place on Sunday, 17 November 2013.As a tradition, Singapore Gold Cup Day is also designated as the Club’s Annual Charity Race Day. Former President, Mr S.R. Nathan, will present the donation cheques on behalf of the Club to the charitable organisations.

This event and the charity activities connected with it are totally in line with our core values of tradition, elegance and performance.”
All races run on the day (except the Longines Singapore Gold Cup) are named to reflect the commitment by the Club to give back to the community. Please refer to Annex A for the list. The list of beneficiary organisations is in Annex B.
The $1.35 million Longines Singapore Gold Cup is the crown jewel of the Singapore Group 1 races and the final leg of the prestigious Singapore Triple Crown Series. The time-honoured race will again see some of our best stayers vie for the top prize over the gruelling 2,200m journey on 17 November. Among the leading contenders are the winners of the first Leg (Panasonic Kranji Mile) and second Leg (Raffles Cup); namely Cash Luck and Super Ninetyseven respectively, as well as other bright hopes such as Wild Geese, Tropaios and Street Legal.
The first race will commence at 12.50pm with the Longines Singapore Gold Cup race at 5.55pm. The race will be telecast “live” on Channel NewsAsia and SuperSports Arena from 5.30pm. Telebet customers who subscribe to Horse-Racing Channel on StarHub Sports can stay tuned to Channel 288 for the entire race meeting.
Racegoers can purchase a special package to the Singapore Racecourse at $98 for ladies and $108 for gentlemen. They will enjoy the afternoon at the Marquee close to the racing action by the trackside tucking into a sumptuous buffet lunch paired with free flow of beer, wine, soft drinks and juices. Each will also receive a Longines Singapore Gold Cup cap and have their pictures taken as event mementoes at the photo booth. Ladies can also participate in the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ contest where the contestant with the highest vote will win a Longines DolceVita timepiece.
