CLUB RAINBOW (SINGAPORE) AND SINGAPORE TURF CLUB CHARITY LUNCHEON
In celebration of 170 years of racing in Singapore, Singapore Turf Club (STC), together with its adopted charity, Club Rainbow (Singapore), organised a charity luncheon at the Singapore Racecourse today. The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor, North West District.
Funds raised through the charity luncheon and a Club-wide car-washing fundraiser held earlier in February will go towards helping Club Rainbow (Singapore) purchase a van for their beneficiaries.
Commented Mr Simon Leong, Vice President (Corporate Services), Singapore Turf Club: “As part of our commitment to give back to the community, we are pleased to present to our adopted charity Club Rainbow (Singapore) a new van for their beneficiaries from funds raised by our staff and the charity luncheon.”
Commented Mr Gregory Vijayendran, President, Club Rainbow (Singapore): "There is a pressing need, articulated by parents during a recent meeting with us, for more wheelchair bound children to receive transport services to ferry them from home to either the charity's activities or hospital. The purchase of a second van enables us to go the distance to ameliorate the mobility issues of these specially challenged Rainbow children. Singapore Turf Club's generous donation to enable this purchase is invaluable practical assistance, at a point of need, that will boost the charity's meeting of transportation needs for children battling with spina bifida and muscular dystrophy."
From arts and culture to healthcare, education and community projects, the Singapore Turf Club, through the aegis of the Tote Board, has long been a significant benefactor. Over the years, hundreds of millions of dollars derived from the sport of racing have been used to fund a host of projects benefitting Singaporeans from all walks of life.
