UNIQUE ROLES

Farrier

Specialists in equine hoof care, our Farrier team performs horseshoeing to protect a horse’s hoof capsule from excessive wear and to add traction. Attached to the Veterinary department, the team works closely with our vets to address foot-related lameness issues.

Handicapper

Our Handicappers assess horse performance and determine their ratings. They also split races and assign weights to horses to equalise race chances, whilst adhering to policies, rules and regulations. They balance ensuring fair competition with allowing ample opportunities for all horses to race.

Horticulturist

Responsible for managing the Club's large green spaces, our Horticulturists use their knowledge in plant and soil science to diagnose plant health and cultivate plants. They also develop maintenance programmes to treat plant pests and diseases, remedy nutrient deficiencies in plants, and maintain plant health.

Producer

Our Producers ensure the timely production of quality and informative broadcast programmes for the horse racing channel. They tap on their acute knowledge of the horse racing industry to produce TV programmes and video trailers.

Racing Broadcaster

Racing Broadcasters have intimate knowledge about the sport of horse racing in order to present and comment on Singapore race meetings for TV broadcasts. Describing all the action on the racetracks, their commentary adds context and brings races to life. Our Racing Broadcasters produce content that is engaging as well as informative.

Riding Instructor

Our certified Riding Instructors teach horse riding skills at the Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre. Apart from ensuring a safe riding environment, they utilise effective teaching techniques and develop lesson plans for the learners to become competent and confident riders.

Starter

Starters possess the knowledge and skills to safely handle horses in a high-pressure environment. Our Starters manage barrier activities at race meetings, barrier trials and tests to secure the fairest possible race start.

Stipendiary Steward

Stipendiary Stewards play a critical role in maintaining a high level of integrity in racing control. Our Stipendiary Stewards conduct inquiries on possible infringements of rules and regulations, ranging from careless riding to doping cases.

Tracks Manager

The team behind the maintenance of our world-class racing facilities, our Tracks Manager upkeeps seven tracks by repairing worn and damaged sections. The Tracks Manager also ensures track drainage and carries out culture and biological practices, aeration and pest surveillance.

Veterinary Surgeon

Our team of qualified and experienced Veterinary Surgeons play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our horses. They are dedicated to providing our horses with comprehensive clinical care that includes routine health checks, preventative medication, diagnosis and treatment.
